Material info
Properties:
• Strength: High — tough and impact-resistant
• Flexibility: Moderate — bends before breaking
• Heat Resistance: Good — handles up to ~80°C
• UV Resistance: Good — suitable for outdoor use
• Chemical Resistance: Excellent — resists oils, greases, and many solvents
• Layer Adhesion: Very strong — almost too good (supports can be hard to remove)
• Surface Finish: Good — slight gloss, minor stringing possible
• Odour: Very low
Best for:
• Functional parts — brackets, mounts, housings
• Food-safe containers (check specific brand certification)
• Outdoor items — garden tools, signs, enclosures
• Mechanical components that need impact resistance
• Replacement parts for everyday objects
Not ideal for:
• Fine detail work (PLA is sharper)
• Parts requiring precise tolerances (PETG can be slightly stringy)
• Extremely high-temp applications (use ABS or ASA instead)
Print settings
| Nozzle temperature | 230-245°C |
|---|---|
| Bed temperature | 75-85°C |
| Print speed | 40-50 mm/s |
| Cooling fan | 30-50% |
| Retraction | 3-4mm @ 30mm/s (less than PLA to avoid clogs) |
| Flow rate | 95-100% |
| Layer height | 0.20-0.28mm |
Use a glue stick or release agent on glass beds — PETG bonds aggressively and can chip the glass. Print slightly slower than PLA for the cleanest results.
